DIA (Dreaming of An Indian Awakening) Job Title: Director of Leadership and Education Programmes Location: Mumbai, Maharashtra
The ‘dia’ that is inextricably linked with India's history, its religions and its festivals is also a symbol of illumination and knowledge. The purpose of DIA is to bring together, inspire, and mobilize young Indians who wish to propel India towards a renaissance. DIA programs create platforms for young Indians to engage in vibrant dialogue and leadership through thought. As part of its mission, DIA continues to develop new initiatives that sensitize young Indians to nationally relevant issues as well as encourages them to rediscover their passion for learning about India.
Job Overview: To implement initiatives that aim to increase the value of the teaching profession and nurture potential young leaders; Initially, this will be in two areas: (1) the design and implementation of a pan-Mumbai teacher award, a nomination-based effort to recognize excellent teachers/professors and the value of the teaching profession; (2) to develop a “DIA Scholars” program, a critical-thinking and mentorship initiative to strengthen the leadership skills of high-performing students. In addition, you will support DIA’s other programs and help in the growth of DIA’s mission.

Primary Responsibilities: - Devise a system to attract nominations for excellent teachers from a strategically selected group of schools/colleges
- Convene and manage the evaluation process for potential awardees
- Organize an annual award function to recognize awardees on “Teacher’s Day”
- Create a database of the city’s best professors which will be leveraged for forums and other web based educational programmes
- Work with school principals to identify talented youth with strong leadership potential and promote an enrichment opportunity among students
- Develop and manage a sustained leadership curriculum for DIA scholars
- Identify mentors and administer mentorship program for DIA scholars
- Organize/create events and enrichment programs for DIA scholars
Candidates should have: - A passion for India and mobilizing youth
- An interest in academia and promoting intellectual curiosity
- Value for leadership development and the teaching profession
- Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
- A strong understanding of Indian socio-political and economic issues
- Strong communication, organization, and execution skills
Other details: - Office located in Lower Parel
- Schedule flexibility may be possible
- Local travel (within Mumbai) will be required
