learning lessons that are pushing me forward
So, I feel that my past blogs have largely focused on what I have NOT accomplished. For a change, although I did no accomplish all my weekly goals, I would like to highlight one of my breakthroughs. I’ve been teaching English to the students at the Teacher’s College with the aim of learning how the English element of the course should be set up. The lessons learned from this have been very valuable and have really helped me develop what I think can be a great curriculum.
I began to realize that teaching English to the B. Ed. students was adding value to my curriculum from the number of lessons I have learnt in regards to how English should be taught and, as I have been applying these lessons, to the improvements I have seen in the English class – in regards to how much the students are learning as well as their response and reactions to the material. I think that my reflection and documentation process have really contributed to my being able to extract the maximum value from the experience.
My next steps are to find teacher trainers and get the teachers officially signed up for the course. To do this, I need to do a better job of using my resources (both local and otherwise). I think that this has been one of my shortcomings, and I am determined to address it!
